The May 30 meeting was also attended by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch and some Ukrainian parliamentarians.
The utmost importance of US’s support in avoiding a frozen conflict in eastern Ukraine and further pressing upon Russia was underlined by the Ukrainian side. The parties also had talks about the energy security and the crucial significance of prevention of laying the Nord Stream 2 gas line skirting Ukraine as the Russian political leverage.
Our politicians focused on the military reforms, and again called on US to provide lethal armaments.
The other side expressed the high esteem for the victims of Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity.
The Senator and the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine assured the Ukrainian party of their full support and further assistance in democracy development and strengthening of Ukrainian civil society.
