Petro Poroshenko and Iryna Herashchenko took seven bipartisan delegates from the United States House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress.

The guests were informed of the Donbas safety and humanitarian tensions, enduring provocative actions and truce violations by the illegal paramilitary forces. It was also emphasized that the international sanctions against Russia be extended and widened until Minsk accords are fully met, including restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Crimea.

Deep condolences to the U.S. side were expressed by the head of the state for the tragic loss of an American citizen – an OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s observer slain on duty nearby Luhansk in this April.

The meeting also condemned the sexual harassment attempts offensively committed by an armed SRDLO’s (the Separate Regions of Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts) militant against an OSCE SMM monitress recently.

Ukrainian officials called upon the partners to a harder-line response to any pressure of OSCE SMM observers.

The U.S. congressmen were welcomed to visit Donbas in order to witness firsthand the tragic consequences of Russia’s military aggression.
