THE 6-TH SESSION OF UKRAINIAN PARLIAMENT STARTS
“Don’t leave Avdiivka,” stressed Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, in his speech during the opening ceremony, taking into account the escalation of the armed conflict in the Eastern Ukraine. He emphasized that the defense and security are the key questions in the present-day activity of the Ukrainian parliament working in the context of external aggression.
The incumbent parliament adopted 155 laws in a sphere of defense, said Parubiy.
He finished his address with a minute of silence to commemorate the victims of the conflict.
QUOUSQUE TANDEM
A group of members of the Ukrainian Parliament and the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada addressed the parliaments of the free world with an open letter regarding the deteriorating situation in Eastern Ukraine.
“We are forced to state that Russia, as the aggressor country, continues to further escalate the conflict in the occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This is proven by a critical situation, which has emerged during the past days and which is turning into a humanitarian disaster as a result of systematic attacks by illegal armed groups near the town of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region,” says the letter.
Ukrainian members of parliament (MPs) asked the world parliaments publicly to call upon the Russian authorities to fulfill all international obligations and stop the deliberate aggravation of the safety and humanitarian situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
