Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe recommends Ukrainian Parliament adopt bill "On Amendments to Some Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Protection of Forests under Framework Convention on Protection and Stable Development of the Carpathians" as a basis

In compliance with the explanatory note to the bill (updated No. 4480), it is aimed at the implementation of the Framework Convention on Protection and Stable Development of the Carpathians and the Protocol on Stable Forest Management to the Framework Convention on Protection and Stable Development of the Carpathians.

The bill offers to amend the Forest Code of Ukraine, Administrative Offences Code of Ukraine, Penal Code of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine "On Nature Reserve Fund."

Having supported the idea of forest protection, the Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe expressed some remarks.

The bill needs certain technical and legal update.

Besides, the scientific and expert department also expressed a number of remarks and after the consideration in first reading said the bill could be adopted if its remarks are taken into consideration.

The Committee on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction noted that the bill contains no corruptogenic factors.

The Committee on Budget concluded that the bill requires additional financing from the national and local budgets and noted that the enactment date is yet to be determined.
