Hryhorii Nemyria, Thomas Mayr-Harting discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine, protection of human rights and freedoms

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations Hryhorii Nemyria has met with Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia of the European External Action Service Thomas Mayr-Harting.

The Parties discussed the situation in Ukraine, Russia's aggression against our state, and protection of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine, in particular, in Crimea and on the occupied part of Donbas.

Hryhorii Nemyria informed his colleague about the status of protection of rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons having drawn particular attention to systemic violations in that field.

The parliamentarian also said it was planned to hold an extended meeting of the Committee on Wednesday dedicated to "Hearing of information provided by representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, responsible ministries and institutions about the status of implementation of the Recommendations of the parliamentary hearings entitled "Status of protection of rights of internally displaced persons and citizens of Ukraine living on temporarily occupied territories and temporary uncontrolled territory in the antiterrorist operation zone" (in compliance with Section 2 of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine No. 1074-VIII dated March 31, 2016)." Expected participants in the meeting will be: Minister of Social Policy Pavlo Rozenko, Minister of Social Policy Andrii Reva and Internally Displaced Persons Affairs Minister Vadym Chernysh.
