Iryna Heraschenko presents doctors of Okhmatdit National Specialized Children Hospital with Verkhovna Rada awards

First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Heraschenko has presented doctors of the Okhmatdit National Specialized Children Hospital with awards of the Verkhovna Rada for their remarkable contribution to the implementation of the state policy in the field of health care and introduction of new treatment methods.

Iryna Heraschenko noted that the medical sector of Ukraine needs particular attention of the Government and the Parliament.

The politician noted the necessity for the health care sector reform.

She added that the reform has to be comprehensive to be successful and reminded that currently the Verkhovna Rada has a number of important draft laws aimed at the fight against corruption in the field of medicine procurements.

Iryna Heraschenko thanked the team of the hospital for their daily work they do "sometimes without required equipment and in premised not properly equipped." She stressed that now the Verkhovna Rada has a newly established interfactional deputy association in support of Okhmatdit to try to rapidly solve the problems of the hospital.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Okhmatdit employees pointed out major problems the hospital is currently facing: insufficient state funding and lack of required equipment.

The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada assured that the interfactional deputy association would facilitate the completion of a new building on the territory of the hospital and allocation of funds to acquire an MRI machine and an ambulance.
