Project (№4540) proposed to include in the list
of persons belonging to victims of the Chernobyl disaster, persons born from
liquidators of Chernobyl disaster consequences and people evacuated from
the exclusion zone who after reaching an adult age have not been referred to
the categories fixed by article 14 of the Law Ukraine "On status and
social protection of citizens affected by the Chernobyl disaster"
(amendments to Article 11). It is also proposed to add to the basic law a new article
171, which introduces their annual medical examination, clinical examination
and treatment in specialized hospitals.
During the discussion, it was noted in particular that today in Ukraine there
live tens of thousands of people who were born from liquidators of Chernobyl
disaster consequences and people evacuated from the exclusion zone who
after reaching an adult age have not been referred to the categories fixed by article
14 of the Law Ukraine "On status and social protection of citizens
affected by the Chernobyl disaster". However, we cannot say that such persons were
not subjected to any radiation exposure. 30 years passed since Chernobyl
disaster but we can only guess what effects of the next decade related to the
accident on the health of children born from liquidators will occur. Definitely
it can be stated that not only the first generation born from liquidators, but
other generations will suffer the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. So today the state must create the conditions for monitoring of the health conditions
of such persons.
