Committee on legislative support of enforcement activity recommends to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt as a basis and as a whole a draft law on Amendments to article 265 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the voluntary delivery of radioactive materials

During the meeting of the Committee it was noted
that the draft law №4612 proposes to amend article 265 of the Criminal Code of
Ukraine with the fourth part, which set the legal basis for exemption from
criminal responsibility persons who voluntarily delivered to the authority
radioactive materials (sources of ionizing radiation, radioactive substances or
nuclear materials that are installed in devices or products or are in any
physical condition).
People's deputies believe that implementation of the draft law will
significantly improve the state of radiation safety by removing from the
population and legal entities radioactive materials and transfer them to
specialized enterprises which store radioactive waste.
