The development of the trilateral Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian parliamentary cooperation within the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Seim of the Republic of Lithuania, the Seim and Senate of Poland is an extremely important area.
Today the co-chairs of the Assembly on the Ukrainian party are the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Parubii, from Poland - Marshal of the Senate of Poland S.Karchevskyi, from Lithuanian – the Chairman of the Seim of Lithuania L.Hrauzhynienie.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii firstly thanked the Lithuanian and Polish people for the support of Ukraine in times of trial. "I think the format of parliamentary cooperation is extremely important. It has great potential. For Ukraine in a war the most important factor is military and economic aid. But not less is psychological and moral support which we always feel from Lithuania and Poland”, - he said. – “Your peoples are well aware that a Russian aggression."
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada underlined that Ukraine reached agreement between the government and parliament. "Many areas are in need of urgent reform. We have adopted anti-corruption laws, legislation, defense industry and so on. Not all reforms are popular, they are not always welcomed by the public and sometimes it is rather hard to implement. However, we do these steps, because in other way Ukraine would not become a powerful European state" – said Parubii.
The Speaker of the Seim of Lithuania Loreta Hrauzhynienie congratulated Ukraine with a victory in Eurovision. "Ukraine in the course of one year showed itself off to whole Europe," - she said. "Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania are celebrating twenty-five years of diplomatic relations. Today we must draw new plans and directions of cooperation for the coming years. Ukraine is heading for NATO, Lithuania and Poland are already members of it," - said the spokeswoman. In her view, the summit in Warsaw in July 2016 is extremely important for Ukraine. "The delegation of the Lithuanian Parliament is always ready to cooperate to protect our common interests. Chairpersons of Parliaments of Baltic countries welcome the reforms in your state. The parliamentary component is considered to be very essential one in implemention of these reforms. Hrauzhynyenye said: “There should be more Europe in Ukraine.
Marshal of the Senate of Poland S.Karchevskyi emphasized: "We must work together towards preventing changes of the usual mode and the division of the spheres of influence in Europe". In his opinion Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland are to jointly confront the terrorist threat to millions of people to lose safe life. "As never, solidarity of European states stays very actual in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. This year's summit in Warsaw will be a key event not only in Ukraine but also because of the strengthening of the eastern flank of NATO," - said the spokesman.
