An open address by Hryhorii Nemyria and Valeriya Lutkovska on denial of access to representatives of the United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment to the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations Hryhorii Nemyria and Verkhovna Rada Ombudsman Valeriya Lutkovska express their concerns over the statement by the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment on suspension of their monitoring visit to Ukraine.

On May 25, 2016, Chair of the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment Malcolm Evans said he suspended his mission as the Security Service of Ukraine did not grant access to "some places where the subcommittee heard numerous and serious allegations that people have been detained and where torture or ill-treatment may have occurred."
