The meeting was addressed by head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhii Savchuk, who presented the results of the agency's work on the implementation of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan till 2020. He recalled that the main task of the Plan is to reach 11% of energy produced from renewable sources in the total volume of energy consumption of the country in 2020. The Agency head also said that the implementation of the Plan requires about EUR 16 billion of investments. "Drawing of funds into this sphere will mean for Ukraine development of economy, and small and medium business, new jobs, introduction of innovative environmentally friendly technologies, energy decentralization," he stressed.
The event was attended by first Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision song contest (2004) Ruslana Lyzhychko. She inspired the roundtable participants with own experience: "I started green energy from myself, having built my energy-efficient active building where we use solar, wind energy, biomass, and advanced energy-saving technologies."
