Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy holds regular meeting

At its meeting the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy examined the draft law "On amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the reform of state-owned and municipal printed media" (concerning non-application of the Law to printed media of the security and defense sector bodies)" No.4412. Due to the fact that the draft law needs some finalization (amendments to other articles of the Law of Ukraine "On the reform of state-owned and municipal printed media"), the Committee members unanimously decided:

1. To recommend that the authors of the draft law withdraw the draft law on amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the reform of state-owned and municipal printed media" (concerning non-application of the Law to printed media of the security and defense sector bodies).

2. To create a working group under the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy to solve the problem raised by people's deputies of Ukraine D. Tymchuk, S. Vysotskyi, I. Vinnyk, P. Dziublyk, A. Teteruk.

3. To order the members of the working group to present at one of the regular meetings of the Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy coordinated proposals on perfecting the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On the reform of state-owned and municipal printed media" in order to address the above problem.

At the meeting they raised the question concerning examining the draft Regulations on the Public Council of Parliamentary Reporters under the Press Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat and proposals on making amendments to the Regulations on the procedure of the accreditation of journalists, mass media employees under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and decided to consider the draft Regulations on the Public Council of Parliamentary Reporters under the Press Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat and on making amendments to the Regulations on the procedure of the accreditation of journalists, mass media employees under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the next meeting of the Committee.
