The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy at its regular meeting considered the appeal of Ukrainian journalists concerning the publication on the website Myrotvorets of personal data of mass media representatives, which have received accreditation in the occupied territories in the east of Ukraine, and concerning the cooperation of these journalists with terrorists and illegal border crossing.

According to the Committee members, unacceptable are the violations of the right to protection of personal data and therefore disclosure of personal data of journalists on the Myrotvorets website. So the mentioned website and the authorities in charge must abide by the provisions of law. Parliamentarians expressed concern as such actions pose a threat to journalists covering events in the east of the country, but are de facto publicly accused of collaboration with terrorists. Such conclusions can be made only by relevant services on the ground of corresponding evidence. Instead, Ukrainian authorities must do their best to ensure the right of journalists to security and professional activity.
