Thirty years have passed since the Chornobyl disaster, and the society has significantly reduced its attention to the Chornobyl problems and their settling, to the issues of social support for liquidators of consequences of the nuclear accident and people injured by radiation.

If in the first convocation there were 67 people's deputies – Chornobyl veterans, then in the eighth - just 14. Unfortunately, there are no professional nuclear specialists, radiologists, radio hydrobiologists and other specialists among them, who are aware of peculiarities of the Chornobyl problems.

In Ukraine there are almost two million Chornobyl veterans, including over 210,000 liquidators and every fourth of them is disabled. It is known that radiation exposure affects the immune system, causes illnesses of the genetic system, which has a negative influence on the health of generations of Ukrainians. An organizational meeting for the establishment of the Chornobyl Association of People's Deputies of Ukraine was held.

They created an initiative group, which comprises MPs of the current and previous convocations, representatives of Counterintelligence of Chornobyl NGO for the formation of a permanent parliamentary body in the form of the Chornobyl Association of People's Deputies, which is stipulated by Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of People's Deputy of Ukraine."

The organizational meeting of people's deputies – Chornobyl veterans has decided:

To support the proposal of the initiative group concerning the creation of the Chornobyl Association of People's Deputies of Ukraine as a permanent deputy public association involving people's deputies of eighth and previous convocations, pursuant to the Laws of Ukraine "On the Status of People’s Deputy of Ukraine" and "On Public Associations;"
