The members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legislative Support to Enforcement considered the draft law No. 4481 at their April 20 meeting.
The draft law aims to change the prosecutor general candidate specification. In particular, it offers to put Section 3, Article 40 of the Law of Ukraine "On prosecutor's office" in the following wording:
"3. Prosecutor general of Ukraine shall be a citizen of Ukraine who:
1) has a higher education degree;
2) has at least five-year record of service in the field of law;
3) speaks Ukrainian;
4) is not subject to circumstances envisioned in Section 5, Article 27 of this Law;
5) has good business, professional and organizational skills."
Having discussed the draft law, the Committee members supported the proposal of people's deputy of Ukraine V.Korol to put Item 2, Section 3, Article 40 of the Law of Ukraine "On prosecutor's office" in the following wording:
"2) has at least three-year record of service in the field of law;"
Having analyzed the draft law, the Committee members recommended that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopt it as a basis and in principle.
