The roundtable's participants were the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, people's deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of VIII and previous convocations, representatives of structure divisions of the Secretariat.
The initiators of the event were the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation For Freedom in Ukraine.
Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat Volodymyr Bondarenko opened the discussion. He noted that the issue of improvement of the Ukrainian Parliament's work is now of considerable importance.
In the process of the intellectual property rights, it would be important to take in account Ukraine's and international experience. This issue has become particularly important after the signature of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
According to Bondarenko, Speaker Volodymyr Groysman has started the reformation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He noted that a number of effective steps had been taken in that field: shift to e-governance, creation of renewed official portal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, introduction of online broadcasting of parliamentary committees' meetings, etc.
Later, chairperson of the subcommittee for deputy ethics of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Rules of Parliamentary Procedure and Support to Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykhailo Papiyev, director of the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Kopylenko, academic adviser of the Legislation Institute of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alla Pohorelova presented their reports.
At the end of the event, it was decided to elaborate recommendations of the roundtable touching the strategy of Parliament's reformation, adjustment of professional parliamentary work.
