Participants of visiting meeting of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information Policy at Ukrtelefilm believe there are no alternatives to unconditional implementation of Law on Public Television

In accordance with the decision adopted earlier following consideration of an appeal of the leadership of the National Television Company of Ukraine concerning the situation at the state enterprise "USTF "Ukrtelefilm,” the Committee meeting was held in the territory of the state enterprise. Parliamentarians together with the leadership of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, the  National Television Company, representatives of the liquidation committee, personnel, trade unions, in the presence of an investigator in the criminal proceedings instituted under Article 357 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against "stealing, appropriation, or extortion of documents, stamps and seals," etc, tried to find a compromise for benefit of practical implementation of the Law of Ukraine "On Public Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine."

At the meeting chaired by Chairperson of the Committee Viktoria Siumar they listened to the arguments of the parties to the industrial conflict, which practically blocked the process of public television creation. Following the discussion, the meeting participants agreed on the need to take account of the wishes of the personnel of the company, which is in the process of reorganization, concerning expanding its representation in the composition of the liquidation committee and ensuring maximum transparency of further reforms. They listened to the position of the employees, voiced by their authorized representative.

As a result of the visiting meeting the people’s deputies of Ukraine made a decision, having voted unanimously.

The work of the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine concerning ensuring of the merger of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Studio of Television Films "Ukrtelefilm" and the PJSC "National Public TV and Radio Company of Ukraine" was declared insufficient. In this regard they recommended that the State TV and Radio Committee immediately, taking into account the wishes of the labor collective reshuffle the liquidation committee. Following the next meeting the Committee will decide on further steps for the practical creation of the Public Television of Ukraine.
