Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe holds meeting on household waste handling in city of Chernivtsi

The participants in the meeting were Chairperson of the Committee Mykola Tomenko, chairperson of the subcommittee on state environmental monitoring Ivan Rybak, people's deputies/authors of the topic-based legislative initiatives, as well as heads of the city of Chernivtsi, representatives of local self-government bodies, public experts and scientists.

The participants in the event discussed a number of draft laws aimed at the reformation of the household waste handling sector Nos. 3198-1, 3199-1 and 3200-1.

During the discussion, its participants several times noted that local self-government bodies have to play the leading part in the introduction of legislative acts in the sector. Mykola Tomenko noted: "Our concept is to trigger the money flow to the local level for the needs of this sector, to make local authorities able to fulfill their functions."
