On January 28, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the draft law No. 3081-d on state support for cinematography in Ukraine, having removed Article 13 on Ukrainian Institute of Cinema Art from its wording.
In the course of the preparation for second reading, on February 9, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Culture and Spirituality hosted a public discussion of proposals and remarks to the said draft law.
Chairperson of the Committee Mykola Kniazhytskyi noted that during the preparation of the draft law on state support to cinematography for second reading, the issue of protection of copyrights and preventing censorship would be balanced.
He noted that the Committee members would consider all the provided proposals.
