Chairperson of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko meets with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Albania in Ukraine Shpresa Kureta

At the meeting present were head of deputy group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Albania Vitalii Kurylo, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine Shahin Omarov.
During the meeting the sides discussed the current state of the Ukrainian-Albanian relations and the importance of further enhancing cooperation between the two states.
Chairperson of the Committee informed about the progress of political and economic situation in Ukraine and noted that people’s deputies of Ukraine - members of the Committee make all possible to carry out deep reforms in Ukraine, in particular at the legislative level. Hanna Hopko thanked the Republic of Albania for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and noted the importance of cooperation between the parliaments through the common pro-European position.

Head of the group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Albania V.Kurylo in turn expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Albania for supporting the position of NATO, the EU and other international strategic partners on the need to restore territorial integrity of Ukraine and secure peace in its territory. The speaker stressed that under way is the building of relations between the two countries in scientific, cultural, tourism and business sectors.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine noted that strengthening of the Ukrainian-Albanian relations at all levels is on the agenda, as Ukraine and the Republic of Albania have common position on key issues, including concerning cooperation in political, economic and cultural spheres. Ms. Kureta stressed that the Albanian side remains interested in the exchange of visits with Ukraine at a high and highest levels.
The meeting participants in particular agreed that the visa-free regime for citizens of Albania and the opening of respective diplomatic missions in both countries is necessary.
Special attention was paid to the issue of a possible visit of the parliamentary group of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Albania in the second half of January 2016.
