Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts as a basis draft law "On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine as to humanization of criminal liability for women"

The
draft law proposes to determine that in addition to persons who committed crimes
in the age of under 18 and to persons in the age of over 65, such form of
punishment as life imprisonment is not applied to women who committed criminal
offenses.
Relevant amendments are expected to be made to Section 2 of Article 64 of the
Criminal Code.
The draft law also proposes to make amendments to Articles 18, 150 and 150-2 of
the Criminal Procedure Code to bring the provisions of these articles of the
Code in line with amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine and remove a
reference to facilities for holding women sentenced to life imprisonment. Respective draft law was registered under No. 2254a.
