Participating in the meeting were Committee chairperson Hanna Hopko, Committee deputy chairperson Borys Tarasiuk, Committee deputy chairperson Viktor Vovk, chairperson of the subcommittee for quesitons of Euro-Atlantic cooperation and European integration of the Committee Svitlana Zalischuk. chairperson of the subcommittee for international ties, bilateral and multilateral relations Volodymyr Ariyev, and Committee member Yulia Liovochkina. Participating in the meeting was also Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont.
Committee chairperson Hanna Hopko supported a proposition regarding further development of the parliamentary cooperation of the two countries at the level of respective committees. She thanked France for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and voiced a hope for more active support of Ukraine from the side of French parliamentary circles, including in the question of condemnation of the Russia Federation's aggression against our country. The Committee members also provided detailed information to the French colleague about the situation in, prospects for implementation of domestic reforms in our country. They highlighted the question of finalization and adoption of the package of law facilitating the pace of our country toward European integration.
Elisabeth Guigou thanked the Committee members for the letter of condolences following the terrorist attacks in Paris. The meeting participants discussed the situation in, prospects for implementation of domestic reforms, the security situation in the east of Ukraine and prospects for implementation of the Minsk agreements in the context of the recent escalation in the east of the country. Elisabeth Guigou expressed herself in favor of continuation of sanctions imposed against Russia following the annexation of the Crimea and escalation of the conflict in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. She also emphasized that the current dangerous situation in Syria and Iraq does mean at all that the French government begin to lose interest or underestimate the importance of the process of settlement of the situation in the east of Ukraine. In this connection it was declared once again in favor of implementation of the Minsk agreements on de-escalation of the situation in the east of Ukraine, first and foremost, strict observation of the agreements by the Russian side.
