The draft law No. 2685 offers to amend 17 articles of the Correctional Code of Ukraine. In particular, provisions of the draft law: allow convicts to have short-term meetings with relatives or other persons in absence of prison employees, except special cases; specifies the number and order of visits; excludes terms that envision separate (from other convicts) work of convicts kept in isolation ward; specifies the term on medical and sanitary provision of convicts, order of postal communication, phone talks; enables appealing for amnesty by convicts servicing life sentence after 15 years in prison; etc.

The Committee members pointed to the importance of the draft law. In their opinion the adoption of the said draft law would allow implementation of a number of international standards in the field of enforcement not envisioned in the national legislation.
