The said draft law No. 3091 offers to change the borders of the city of Mariupol and Volnovakha district of Donetsk region through extension of the territory of the city of Mariupol for 4,928.3 hectares of lands of Lebedynske village council of Volnovakha district (including territories of the village of Lebedynske, small town of Kalynivka and village of Sopyne).

Chairperson of the subcommittee for local self-government bodies and territorial structure Mykola Fedoruk informed that the draft law violated requirements of Section 2 of Article 173 of the Land Code of Ukraine under which borders of districts, villages, small towns, cities, city districts are set and changed under the projects for land structure.

Fedoruk reminded that the Committee had addressed the Donetsk regional military-civil administration, which noted it did not have objections to inclusion of the territory of the Lebedynske village council to the territory of the city of Mariupol.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Building, Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Serhii Vlasenko noted that the election processes within regular election of deputies to the Mariupol city council and election of Mariupol city mayor had not been completed, thus, it would be inexpedient to change the borders of the city of Mariupol before the end of the said elections. Vlasenko offered to suspend the consideration of the issue until the end of the elections.
