Opening the meeting, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada and Head of the Constitutional Commission Volodymyr Groysman said it was particularly important to make constitutional amendments touching the judicial reform restore the trust of the Ukrainian citizens in the judicial power.

He also noted that such amendments have to "meet society's demands and give an answer to how to protect human rights today."

Head of the Workgroup for Justice and Allied Legal Institutions of the Constitutional Commission Oleksii Filatov took floor to report on recent conclusions of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) on the draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine touching justice.

According to the Regulations of the regular meeting of the Constitutional Commission offered by Groysman, the meeting participants heard information of the Venice Commission, exchanged opinions on the work done in that field, and took part in the discussion.

At the end of the meeting, the Constitutional Commission decided to approve the draft justice amendments to the Constitution offered by the Workgroup and send it for consideration of the President of Ukraine after technical and legal adaptation.
