Today the Committee along with the Human Rights Agenda human rights organization held an expert roundtable entitled "Models of cooperation of national and international bodies in investigation into international crimes and their judicial consideration."

"The Ukrainian society has stable demand for the reformation of the criminal justice system and protection of the right to fair trial, inevitability of punishment. Such an inevitability of punishment had to be shown at the example of investigation into the events related to mass killing of people on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv during the Revolution of Dignity. However so far no guilty of those tragic events has been brought to responsibility," Chairperson of the Committee Hryhorii Nemyria said opening the roundtable.

He said that the society is also expecting those, who committed crimes during the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, to be brought to responsibility.

"In this context it is not enough for Ukraine to acknowledge the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court on commission of crimes against humanity and military crimes. Ukraine should make another step and ratify the Rome statute," Hryhorii Nemyria added.

Results of the examination of the existing models of cooperation between national and international bodies in the investigation into international crimes were presented at the roundtable. The participants of the roundtable also exchanged opinions as to the creation of an adaptive model for Ukraine.

The event continued a number of joint events of the Committee and the Human Rights Agenda organization, which continued public discussion of the mechanisms of effective cooperation between national and international bodies in investigation into crimes against humanity and military crimes and their further judicial consideration.

The participants of the event were people's deputies, representatives of the security service of Ukraine, Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, Ministry of Interior Affairs of Ukraine, international and Ukrainian experts etc.
