Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration eyes number of draft laws as to their correspondence to EU Law, Ukraine's obligations in frames of Council of Europe and Association Agreement between Ukraine on the one hand and EU, European Atomic Energy Community and their member countries on the other hand

At the meeting, the Committee members eyed a number of draft laws as to their correspondence to the law of the European Union, obligations of Ukraine in the frames of the Council of Europe and the Association Agreement between Ukraine on the one hand and the EU, European Atomic Energy Community and their member countries on the other hand.

The Committee members supported draft laws Nos. 0063 and 0066.

The adoption of the draft law No. 0063 "On ratification of the Agreement between the Ministry of Economy and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus on sea commercial navigation" confirms Ukraine's consent to bindingness of provisions of the bilateral intergovernmental document and completion of the national procedures of Ukraine required to enact the said Agreement.

The draft law No. 0066 aims to implement national procedures required to enact the Protocol in relations between the two countries.

The people's deputies-members of the Committee ruled that the draft laws Nos. 2388a and 2038 were in line with the Law of the European Union.

The draft law No. 2388a aims to improve the terms of the Tax Code of Ukraine on excise taxation of retail sale of petroleum products, in particular, in the field of determination of a subject of taxation, taxable base and replacement of the ad valorem rate of the tax with a specific one, defined as a fixed rate in euros per liter of sold petroleum products.

Adoption of the draft law No. 2038 is required to cheapen foodstuff, which in turn would slow down the impoverishment of the Ukrainian people.

At the same time, the deputies decided to urge the Ukrainian Government to receive respective expert conclusions on the draft laws Nos. 2388a and 2038.

The draft laws Nos. 3154 and 2169a were declared contradicting international-legal obligations of Ukraine.

The people's deputies-members of the Committee declared the draft laws Nos. 2419, 2420, 2114а, 2261а, and 2143а not to be in compliance with the Law of the European Union.

At the same time, they expressed a number of remarks and proposals to the draft laws Nos. 2480а and 3172.

The meeting also discussed the signature of the Memo on cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration and the EU Advisory Mission for Civilian Security Sector Reform Ukraine.
