Verkhovna Rada hosts meeting of people's deputies with veterans

Participants of the meeting that took place at the invitation of the Council of Veterans Organization of Ukraine on the eve of the International Day of Older Persons and Veterans Day were people's deputies representing field-specific committees of the Verkhovna Rada engaged in issues of social protection, in particular, people's deputy and a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision Nataliya Korolevska and employees of the Secretariat of the Committee.

According to Head of the Council of Veterans Organization of Ukraine Petro Tsybenko, on October 1, the whole world celebrates the International Day of Older Persons declared by the UN General Assembly. At the same time, October 1 is also known as Veterans Day in Ukraine.

Under the influence of the UN Resolution, the system of social protection was created in Ukraine, and the legislative framework is one of the most perfect ones in the world. Petro Tsybenko also noted that since mid-2015, social protection of veterans has started to improve in Ukraine. In particular, Ukraine cancelled taxation of pensions of war disabled veterans and some other categories of persons. At the same time, the size of the minimum pension has been raised.

The participants of the meeting discussed the issue of the raise of the social protection of veterans.

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision Nataliya Korolevska noted that privileges obtained by the veterans are compensation for their contribution to the development of our state.

Korolevska wished veterans peace, sound health and belief.

The people's deputy also noted that member of the Committee aims to improve and enhance domestic legislation in social sector.
