Opening the hearings, Chairperson of the Committee Mykola Martynenko noted that nowadays proposals and recommendations to the draft law on the electric energy market have to be elaborated to introduce major provisions of the Third Energy Package as to the common rules for the domestic electric energy market.

The chair of the hearings called on the participants "to discuss all rational positions as to this document in order to approve the maximum possible balanced law to go in line with the EU standards and needs of the society." "Electric energy is a commodity sold freely in the energy market. This market is attractive for the investors. However, at the same time, we need to be sure that vulnerable consumers of this commodity are protected," he concluded.
