On September 10, 2015, the European Parliament passed the special Resolution on Russia, which strongly condemns the illegal sentencing and imprisonment of Oleh Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko in the Russian Federation due to their position as to illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The Resolution also says about the judgment handed down by the Pskov regional court as well as the entire trial of Estonian police officer Eston Kohver, who was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment after his abduction in 2014 from the territory of Estonia, which is part of the EU.

The said Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine express gratitude to their colleagues in the European Parliament for constant attention to the complicated problem Russia-neighboring countries, in particular, Ukraine and Estonia face.

The Chairpersons of the Committees welcomed the adoption of the Resolution. He noted that despite Russia's enormous propaganda the whole world now sees and acknowledges the crimes of Kremlin against the two citizens of Ukraine and the citizen of Estonia.

"We hope that the Russian authorities will finally hear the calls of the European Parliament and release the two citizens of Ukraine and the citizen of Estonia," the statement reads.
