Japan has confirmed its intention to provide financial assistance worth USD 1.8 billion to Ukraine.
This was said by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Kentaro Sonoura on the eve of his visit to Kyiv at the meeting with Verkhovna Rada deputies, who stayed in Tokyo on invitation of the Japanese Government.
Sonoura noted that the fight against corruption must be of top priority for new Ukraine.
Besides, he called the military conflict in the east of Ukraine unacceptable.
Ukrainian deputies noted that the partnership with Japan is strategic for Ukraine.
Meeting participants were people's deputies Svitlana Zalischuk, Serhii Leschenko, Mustafa During its stay in Tokyo, the delegation had meetings with members of Japanese Parliament/participants of the group of friendship between the parliaments of Ukraine and Japan and with the leadership of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan.
Nayem, Viktoriya Voitsitska, Nataliya Ahafonova and Oleksandr Sochka, representative of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Yaroslav Sydorovych, and a representative of the Strategic Researches Institute, Oleksandr Vlasiuk.
The visit of the Ukrainian delegation was organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency after the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Fumio Kishida to Ukraine in 2014.
