Opening parliamentary hearings entitled “Prospects of introduction of visa-free regime by the European Union for Ukrainian citizens,” First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii called the discussed problem important for every Ukrainian as the visa issue is directly connected with opportunity to hold entrepreneur activity, adjust business contacts and travel.
“In May 2005, Ukraine unilaterally cancelled visa regime for the citizens of the Eurasian Economic Community, and the negotiations on visa-free regime for the Ukrainians have been held with the European Union since 2008,” Parubii said.
The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada also noted that today Ukraine is at the final stage of implementation of the second phase of the Action Plan for liberalization of visa regime and that the European Commission highly appreciates the state of implementation of respective tasks by our state.
Parubii also expressed confidence that the hearings will become an impulse for Ukraine to do everything that depends on it to finalize realization of the Action Plan for the liberalization of the visa regime.
