Verkhovna Rada Committee for Culture and Spirituality supports draft laws on immortalization of victory over Nazism in World War II of 1939-1945 and on legal status and commemoration of participants of fight for independence of Ukraine in XX century

Participants of the discussion noted, the draft laws Nos. 2538 and 2539 are aimed at proper commemoration of merits of the Ukrainian people in World War II of 1939-1945, and immortalization of memory of participants of the fight for Ukraine’s independence in the XX century.

It was also mentioned that the draft laws are aimed at commemoration of victory over Nazism in World War II, necessity for state’s permanent care of war veterans, participants of liberation movement and victims of Nazism, legislative regulation of social guarantees of participants of the fight for the independence of Ukraine in the XX century. Members of the Committee supported the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers to celebrate the Day of Memory and Conciliation on May 8 and the Day of Victory over Nazism in World War II (Victory Day) on May 9 at the state level.

The decision to support the draft laws was taken unanimously.
