Verkhovna Rada Committee for Free Speech and Information Policy recommends Parliament adopt in second reading and on the whole draft law on introduction of amendments into some legislative acts of Ukraine as to peculiarities of broadcasting (re-broadcasting) of commercials within shows of foreign TV and radio companies

In particular, the draft law No. 1455 offers prohibition of broadcasting (re-broadcasting) of commercials within shows of foreign TV and radio companies on the territory of Ukraine in case foreign TV and radio companies are not subjected to jurisdiction of the EU countries, or countries that had ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.

Such broadcasting (re-broadcasting) of commercials is planned to be allowed only if broadcasting (re-broadcasting) of such commercials is paid to a legal entity of Ukraine despite the way of such broadcasting (re-broadcasting).

It is also planned to rule that an economic entity being under jurisdiction of Ukraine intending to re-broadcast and has respective permit from copywriter (producer), who is not subject to jurisdiction of an EU country or a country that ratified the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, has right to conduct re-broadcasting only in case the contents of a show meets requirements of effective law of Ukraine, European Convention on Transfrontier Television, and in case respective show is put onto the list of shows re-broadcast in compliance with respective decision of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council.
