ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION CONTINUED ITS PLENARY WORK
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, opened the plenary meeting and informed on the results of work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during the plenary meeting on March 1.
The People´s Deputies delivered their speeches, announcements, and proposals.
The People´s Deputies scrutinized ratification issues.
The bill on Accession of Ukraine to the Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption was presented by Yevhen Sulima, First Deputy Minister of Science and Education.
Yevhen Sulima, First Deputy Minister of Science and Education, presented another bill, submitted by the President of Ukraine, - on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine in connection with Ukraine´s accession to the Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption.
Taras Chornovil, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, reported on the Committee´s decision concerning both bills. The Committee recommends the Verkhovna Rada to adjust them.
The People´s Deputies expressed several remarks regarding the bills.
Nina Karpachova, Ombudsperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the discussion of the bills. She stated, "Adoption shall become a national priority."
In the result of the voting, two bills were referred for adjustment.
The bill on amendments to items 14 and 15 of Chapter X "Transitional Provisions" of the Land Code of Ukraine regarding the terms of sale of land areas was presented by Volodymyr Yavorivskyi, People´s Deputy of Ukraine.
Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Hryhorii Kaletnik reported on the Committee´s decision to recommend the Verkhovna Rada to reject the bill.
The bill was rejected.
The bill on amendments to the Budget Code of Ukraine (re payment of an income tax to Kyiv city budget) was presented by Oleksandr Chernovolenko, People´s Deputy of Ukraine.
Valerii Baranov, Chairman of the Committee on Budget, announced the Committee´s decision to recommend the Verkhovna Rada to reject this bill.
The Verkhovna Rada rejected the bill.
Antonina Boliura, People´s Deputy of Ukraine, presented the bill on amendments to the Law "On State Budget of Ukraine for 2011" (regarding medical transportation vehicles for the non-urban areas).
Valerii Baranov, Chairman of the Committee on Budget, announced that the Committee recommended the Parliament to reject the bill.
The bill was rejected.
Adam Martyniuk, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, adjourned the morning sitting.
