THE FIRST PLENARY WEEK OF THE THIRD SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION CONCLUDED ON FRIDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER
Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, opened the morning meeting and invited the leaders of Deputy Factions to hold a meeting in order to coordinate the agenda.
A.Yatseniuk informed about the death of Alla Vedvid, People´s Deputy of the USSR of the XI Convocation, and The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Third Convocation.
The People´s Deputies held a minute of silence in her honour.
Then, Viktor Sinchenko, elected at the national district of the electoral bloc "The Lytvyn Bloc", took the oath of a People´s Deputy.
A.Yatseniuk also informed that V.Sinchenko, People´s Deputy of Ukraine, joined The Lytvyn Bloc Faction.
Then the Chairman announced the Deputies´ requests.
The leaders of the Factions resolved to withdraw the next issue of the agenda "A Government Question Hour".
The People´s Deputies voted for postponement of the listening to the report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence concerning the stay of foreign fleet at the territory of Ukraine.
Then the People´s Deputies scrutinized the Draft Resolution concerning changes in the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Resolution, pursuant to which People´s Deputy Yuriy Polunieyev joined the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Then the parliament members had to scrutinize the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for Year 2008 and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts" (re Rise in Funding of Expenditures of the Agrarian Sector of Economy).
A.Yatseniuk stated that the Committee on Budget failed to scrutinize the Bill, and submit a relevant conclusion. Therefore, he called for considering the Bill without a resolution of a profile Committee. The People´s Deputies failed to uphold the said proposal.
The Chairman announced a recess due to the request of The Lytvyn Bloc and the CPU Factions.
After the recess, the People´s Deputies paid honour to the members of the Olympic Team of Ukraine that had successful performance at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Volodymyr Lytvyn, People´s Deputy, presented the appeal of The Lytvyn Bloc and the CPU Factions. He stated that The Party of Regions and the BYuT Factions failed to uphold the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for Year 2008 and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts" (re Rise in Funding of Expenditures of the Agrarian Sector of Economy).
Then the People´s Deputies specified certain regulations of the Law "On Promotion of Prestigiousness of Miner´s Work". The parliament members adopted the Resolution, pursuant to which, the Law should come into force since the day of its publication, not since 1 January 2009 as it was stated earlier. They also introduced the amendments to the Law "On Personal Income Tax".
Then the evening plenary meeting was closed.
On 8-12 September the People´s Deputies will work in the Committees and Factions.
The next plenary meeting will be held on Tuesday, 16 September.
