THE PLENARY WEEK OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WAS CONCLUDED ON FRIDAY, 11 APRIL
At the beginning of the meeting Arseniy Yatseniuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, announced appeals of the Deputies.
The People´s Deputies greeted the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine headed by Yulia Tymoshenko, Prime-Minister of Ukraine, who also attended the meeting.
Yulia Tymoshenko, Prime-Minister of Ukraine, reported on the Government´s work since the beginning of the year.
In her report, Yulia Tymoshenko analyzed activity of the most important sectors, dwelled upon the issues concerning elimination of shadow economy, increase of public income due to increase of pensions, scholarships, rates of wages, social aids and payments.
Answering the questions, Yulia Tymoshenko called for granting extensive rights to the opposition and its involvement in the supervision over the Government´s work. The Prime-Minister upheld creation of a Temporary Ad Hoc Panel in charge of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Stelmakh, Head of the National Bank of Ukraine, informed the People´s Deputies of monetary and credit policy of the State.
After the report of the Head of the National Bank of Ukraine, the People´s Deputies scrutinized two Bills.
Thus, Yuriy Yekhanurov, Minister of Defence, reported on the Bill "On Ratification of the Resolution of the President of Ukraine concerning Admission of Units of Foreign Armed Forces at the Territory of Ukraine in Year 2008 for Participation in Multinational Military Training"
The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law as a basis and in its entirety by 363 votes.
Another Bill appertained to amendments to several Laws concerning army recruitment system.
The People´s Deputies upheld the Bill at the First Reading. The Bill was adopted as a basis by 406 votes.
Then the People´s Deputies adopted the Bill "On Amendments to Article 25 of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service" (re Indemnity of Expenditures for Upkeep of the Military Servicemen).
At the end of the meeting, the People´s Deputies announced their declarations, motions and appeals.
