Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
A week-work rundown: April 27-30
Ukrainian MPs carry out their legislative work in committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in compliance with the quarantine requirements introduced to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease COVID-19.
To abide by law, all sittings of line committees are conducted remotely through the agency of videoconference facilities such as: Microsoft Teams, ZOOM, WebEx, Skype, etc. Remote access to electronic agenda item documents is also available for MPs through the electronic workflow system SEDO, with the use of a Ukrainian MP mobile workplace.
Within the period from April 27 through 30, twelve committees have held their sittings, viz:
· Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy – 26 attendees;
· Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy – 16 attendees;
· Committee on Budget – 28 attendees;
· Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy – 16 attendees;
· Committee on Economic Development – 2 sittings, 16 attendees each;
· Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance – 10 attendees;
· Committee on Foreign Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation – 13 attendees;
· Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into EU – 8 attendees;
· Committee on Rules of Procedure, Parliamentary Ethics and Administration of Verkhovna Rada’s Work – 10 attendees;
· Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights – 8 attendees;
· Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy – 2 sittings, 25 attendees each;
· Committee on Digital Transformation – 9 attendees.
In addition to committee members, the meetings in question were attended by 38 invited persons, including representatives of government and local authorities.
During these sittings, there have been reviewed some 80 agenda items, covering both alternative draft bills as well as those falling beyond the committee’s line, still subject to its comments.
