Oleksandr Merezhko, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, held a meeting with Alibala Maharramzade, Head of the Working Group of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan on Interparliamentary Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

The parties discussed the strategic cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, issues of humanitarian and economic assistance to Ukraine, as well as opportunities for expanding collaboration in the energy, transport, cultural, and humanitarian sectors.

During the exchange of views, the interlocutors emphasized the need to leverage existing opportunities for implementing joint infrastructure projects, cooperating on demining efforts in the territories of Ukraine (resulting from russian aggression) and Azerbaijan (resulting from the armed conflict in the Karabakh region), and exchanging expertise in the field of cybersecurity.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to Azerbaijan's support for Ukrainian initiatives within international organizations and their parliamentary assemblies, the deepening of interparliamentary dialogue, and the importance of exchanging delegation visits at the level of heads of parliament and specialized committees.
