Chairperson of the Committee called on the President not to endanger ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

“Delaying signing of the Association Agreement conveys the impression of possible influence of the third country on the strategic choice of our people – the European integration. Once again I call on the President of Ukraine to immediately refer the Agreement to the Parliament in order to ratify it on September 16. I can see no political, economic or technical obstacles to this,” he stressed.

In this connection, he expressed concern over the information disseminated by the mass media this week concerning Russia’s reservations about the Association Agreement that will require amending a minimum of five articles of the document and will postpone ratification indefinitely.

H.Nemyria reminded also that almost three months have passed since the moment of signing of the Agreement and during this period of time it was ratified by four EU member states, Georgia and Moldova, and it was upheld by the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs. The Agreement was referred for consideration by the European Parliament on September 16.

“And the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has not yet received the Agreement from the President. It looks very strange. My colleagues from the European Parliament are seriously concerned about this situation,” he noted.

Chairperson of the Committee stressed that if Ukraine fails to ratify the Agreement till the end of September, it will loose the possibility of its provisional application since November 1, this year.
