Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with President of the Senate of the Netherlands Ankie Broekers-Knol in the course of his official visit to the Kingdom of Norway.
In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed investigation of
Malaysian Boeing crash on the territory invaded by terrorists in the eastern Ukraine, as well as current developments in our
country, having attached special attention to the issue of stopping Russian
aggression against Ukraine. Oleksandr Turchynov expressed condolences in connection with the death of the Netherlands’ citizens in the result of the shut down of the Malaysian Boeing by terrorists on the territory invaded by terrorists in the eastern Ukraine.
Apart from this, Chairman of the Parliament underlined that Ukraine has no alternative as far as European or Euro-Atlantic integration is concerned. He stressed that our country “will never be the part of the Russian empire.”
Oleksandr Turchynov noted also that the example of Ukraine, where people independently chose their way of development, “is extremely dangerous for Putin.” “Putin is afraid that positive dynamics in our country will result in disorders in Russia that is moving towards totalitarism now.”
During the conversation, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that arrival of the investors is extremely important for Ukraine today in order to stabilize economy.
On her part, Ankie Broekers-Knol noted that the entire world observes how Ukraine opposes aggression. “The whole world supports you,” she claimed.
Apart from this, Ankie Broekers-Knol stressed that the Netherlands and the European Union uphold all the current moves our country takes, and especially signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. “This will help you to form an independent, prosperous and modern country,” she summed.
As informed earlier, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov pays an official visit to the Kingdom of Norway with a view to participate in the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments.
Under the programme of the visit, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov shall deliver the speech to the participants of the Conference within the framework of the discussion "Democracy, Sovereignty, and Security in Europe", and shall meet with leaders of international parliamentary organizations and parliaments of European countries.
