A clear stand on lustration but not party slogans shall be dominant in the law on lustration. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stressed this in an interview to "channel 5".

The Chair of the Parliament claimed that when refining the bill to the second reading, it is necessary "to be pragmatic about resolving this problem".

In words of Oleksandr Turchynov, the time for search of enemies in 60s-70s of the previous century has elapsed; today it is necessary "to lustrate the government from deformation" which happened during the years of independent Ukraine, particularly, "during the time of Yanukovych".

Answering the question on which political forces shall undergo a procedure of lustration, the Chair of the Verkhovna Rada said those political forces shall be brought to responsibility actions of which "led to occupation and Russia's aggression".

According to Oleksandr Turchynov, authors of the law should pay attention to "the issues of corruption, unjust decisions, abuse of power, and terror of law-enforcement structures against their own people". "All these issues shall be settled in this law in an integrated manner; it shall not concern any slogans". "Everything should be fair and objective", he summed up.
