The main thing is that the parliamentary elections shall be held on the basis of competition of programmes, political and social projects that offer real changes. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said this in an interview to "channel 5".
"My main aim is for the new Parliament to be better than the current one", claimed the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.
He stressed it is important not to change elections to a fight with no rules. "I want to believe that everyone has made their conclusions", added Oleksandr Turchynov.
Moreover, the Chair of the Parliament claimed electoral legislation requires considerable amendments. "It is urgent to adopt these amendments in the Parliament", he stated and explained that the present Parliament "will not be able to adopt significant amendments to the legislation" and will just adopt technical amendments necessary to technologically ensure the electoral process.
"It is important that elections shall be fair and transparent", he said, explaining that earlier Ukraine "had a tradition to bribe voters and to apply administrative pressure during the election campaign, corruption was initiated at the beginning of the electoral process".
"Therefore, it was so important for me to hold fair and transparent presidential elections in the new Ukrainian realia. We have accomplished this – estimations of civilized countries are the evidence. And I hope that parliamentary elections will be held in the same format", he summed up.
