Ukraine plans to build a liquefied natural gas terminal near Odesa in the nearest future. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov announced this on Monday in an interview.

In his words, "a project of building such terminal that our Lithuanian friends have implemented" is of great interest. "Building of the terminal, completed in a record-breaking time of three years, allows Lithuania to make "Gazprom" reduce prices for gas by over 20%", stressed Oleksandr Turchynov, adding that "this technology is strategically promising for Ukraine".

Moreover, the Chairperson of the Parliament claimed that using new technological methods of building a floating platform which will be recycling liquefied gas "we will be able to save funds and time to build such terminals". "The most importantly, it will not allow "Gazprom" to further blackmail our country, since we will be able to receive diversified supply of energy resources", summed up the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada.

As it was informed earlier, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov will participate in the Conference of Parliamentary Speakers of the Nordic and Baltic Countries on August 17-19 (Palanga, the Republic of Lithuania).

The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada will make a speech within the framework of discussion "Eastern Partnership of the European Union after Vilnius, before Riga".

The Leader of Ukrainian Parliament will meet with President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Loreta Grauziniene, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia Solvita Aboltina, and with the Chairperson of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden Per Westerberg.
