The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis and in entirety the draft law on measures of ensuring preventive detention of persons engaged in terrorist activity

The bill (Reg. No. 4247а) suggests temporary introducing preventive detention for 30 days of persons engaged in terrorist activity in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

Legal reason for detention is a motivated decision of a chair of the internal affairs body or the security service body approved by a prosecutor.

People's deputy, one of the bill's authors M.Palamarchuk claims preventive detention of persons engaged in terrorist activity in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts can be efficient.

Having analysed the draft, the Committee members reached a conclusion on a possibility of introducing the suggested mechanism and availability of guarantees of respect for human rights through the judicial control. MPs upheld this bill.
