The task of the present-day hearings lies, inter alia, in elaboration of proposals regarding securing the country against a great number of information attacks and information wars. Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi stressed this on Wednesday, opening parliamentary hearings entitled “Legislative support to maintaining development of information society in Ukraine”.

R.Koshulynskyi informed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee for Informatization and Information Technologies initiated current hearings and, under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Resolution, the Committees of the Verkhovna Rada on Science and education, as well as on Freedom of Speech and Information were involved in preparation for hearings.

He thanked all the specializing committees for preparation to hearings, having noted that leading experts and scientists were invited to participate.

Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that we should today respond to the question “at what stage the Ukrainian state is at present; whether we are competitive in innovation stages of social life; and to which extent can we compete with other states in terms of establishment and maintenance of our information society.”

According to R.Koshulynskyi, the present-day hearings aim at making suggestions regarding legislative support to the development of information society, as well as securing our country against “a great number of information attacks and information wars, etc.”
