Educators, pedagogues, teachers, representatives of Oblast state organizations, and public representatives from the whole Ukraine discussed suggested amendments to educational programmes, textbook selection, holding the State final attestation and accreditation of educational establishments, topicality of holding summer recreation camps, and the issue on supporting private education. In the context of the meeting, the issue of introducing a 12-year education system was discussed as well.

Lilia Hrynevych stressed that “we live in a very complicated era of Ukrainian history. Now we have a real political will for changes and a real political will to listen to experts and do as they say. The bill “On Higher Education” is ready for the second reading and the task of the present Parliament is to adopt it. Ukrainians should be competitive at the global labour market. We have all conditions for that now – a request for changes in the country and a basis for developing the educational system. At the same time we should remember that higher education is only a component of the system. The basic one is the Law of Ukraine “On Education”. Current legislation is outdated and we should meet the challenges of the modern era with a new law “On Education” which will determine ways of reforming the whole system of education: from pre-school education to education for adults”.
