Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stressed that elections are being held across the whole country; high voting turnout of citizens is observed.

He claimed this on Sunday at a briefing at the polling station where he voted for the President of Ukraine.

“There are queues at the polling stations in Kyiv and across Ukraine”, he stated, stressing that after the nationwide elections of a new Head of State “we will have a complete architecture of government in Ukraine, all governmental institutions will be built, and this is extremely important so that we could confidently move towards peaceful European future”.

Oleksandr Turchynov informed that today seven district commissions work in Donetsk Oblast, and the eighth one is to be opened. In Luhansk Oblast only two district commissions work. “Obviously, elections in these regions are held in very complicated conditions”, he said.

“Leadership of the Russian Federation is doing everything to disrupt elections in Ukraine, particularly in eastern Oblasts. However, regardless of threats, thousands of polling stations work”, claimed Oleksandr Turchynov.

He expressed a belief that attempt to disrupt elections will not influence expression of will of the citizens, elections will be held, and citizens will elect that President whom they trust”.
