In the course of the meeting that was held on May 13, the Parties expressed deep concern in view of complicated domestic political situation in Ukraine. They stressed that strained relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation carry a potential threat for further democratic development of Ukraine and for Europe and its institutions in general.
The Parties discussed a wide range of issues, particularly, situation in the southeast of Ukraine; future early elections of the President of Ukraine; energy problem; language issue; and ways of holding constitutional and other reforms in our country, etc.
The Ukrainian Party emphasized its sincere wish to settle all controversial matters both with the Russian Federation and with the representatives of southeast exclusively by means of negotiations and not by means of sanctions.
Having stressed that increased economic independence of country’s regions will help overcome the present day economic crisis, the Ukrainian Party called on its Italian colleagues to take all possible measures in order to activate the investment process into Ukraine’s economy.
Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Fabrizzio Romano also participated in the meeting.
