In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed current developments in Ukraine and possible assistance on the part of the European Union to our country on the way to Europe.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, European choice is a single option for Ukraine.
“The support of the European Union in developing democratic and transparent system of government in Ukraine is extremely important to us,” he said, stressing that the new authority sets itself a task “to make European standards the standards of Ukraine.”
Chairman of the Parliament stressed that apart from this, despite all the attempts the Russian Federation takes to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, “the authority continues carrying out democratic reforms in the state and prepares amendments to the Constitution.”
“We take the democratic architecture of the EU as a model. We form parliamentary-presidential republic and broaden powers of regional authorities,” he noted.
In his turn, Hannes Swoboda stressed that current Ukrainian authority “is even a more legitimate authority than the previous President who spent budgetary means on his own needs.”
“I want to express full support to the sovereign and democratic Ukraine. I support inviolability of its borders,” he said.
Apart from this, in the context of upcoming presidential elections, the Parties discussed presence of the EU observers during the elections.
“I want to confirm that Ukraine has all chances to become a fully fledged member of the EU,” summed Hannes Swoboda.
